The idea of peace on Earth.

Earth Day Pictures, Images and Photos

-- You may have read this because of the title. The name of the blog may have appealed to you, or when clicking this on, my design made you feel calm. At home maybe, but do you know why? I selected a template with nature, toned down how bright the page was; and even made backgrounds and texts darker or lighter. All of this was done to appeal to the person reading my blog. To make them feel at home, at peace, so they could then be interested in my blog. Would you really click on a blog that had a name that didn't appeal to you? Or a picture that made you uneasy? No. By this point i would hope you have asked yourself: "What does this have to do with peace on Earth?" Well, I am trying to figure out why we can't achieve peace on Earth, why we are having a hard time achieving this world known goal. My thinking is, if i can get one or two people to read my blog because of something i set up to appeal to them, why can't this be done world wide? Say for example, if you are that one person that read my blog because the texture of the blog appealed to you and made you feel at peace, is that possible to do with the world? Can we start appealing to people more, making them feel at peace? Maybe then we can work towards a better world. However, if I can make you feel at peace, then in a sense I am controlling how you think and feel. Several people do not like that. AT ALL. These are the people that do not want to try and achieve peace on Earth. They think their life is already at peace, why try and change others? Believing that since they are happy with their lives, that is all that matters. People do not like thinking they are being controlled, it all goes with how they are raised too. An example is if you watch a teenager who is talking back to their parents or authority figures, they probably will grow up thinking anyone who guides them is trying to be controlling. There seems to be horrible ratio of those who see guides as controlling, to those who see guides as... guides. I guess I have answered my own question that was stated above. We can not have peace on Earth because our species as humans has not matured enough to think for themselves. To realize that not everyone who guides you is a controlling figure. Now I'm not saying everyone who gives you advise is helping you, no no no. We have not matured enough to realize that either; propaganda and modern T.V. shows us how very well we can be controlled. Which will be a side topic in my next blog. Until next time, goodbye and happy thinking. =]

  1. Well, Dakota...very well put. I liked your blog but consider this...you say "we cannot have peace on earth because our species as humas has not matured enough to think for themselves."....what if the species of humans on earth has evolved into such unbelievable selfishness that they no longer care about anyone but themselves. I see incidents of this each and everyday. It is my belief that we have lost sight of wanting to help others and we are only thinking of ourselves now. Oh wait, but then a catastropic disaster occurs like 9/11 or Katrina and everyone wants to jump on the "let's go help these poor people" band wagon. Why can't we find someone to help everyday? Whether it be help someone find peace, or help someone with their garbage (literally and figuratively!)...perhaps we shoudl become more accouantable 'DOING BEINGS' and not just HUMAN BEINGS! We can change by being....so be at peace my son and people will want what you have...or figure you are up to something terrible! LOL

  2. It's this positive attitude that will help make the world more peaceful, if anything. And you're right, the picture of hands holding the Earth got my attention, and that's why marketers gain success by using bright colors and catchy slogans, because they're appealing.

Also, I agree when you say as a human race, we aren't very mature. Because we arent'. If we were, we wouldn't be able to become brainwashed or controlled.

And mom has a good point: If everyone did something everyday to help someone, kindness spreads and that's the best way to begin to create a more peaceful Earth. But because we are human, and immature, our Pride and Wants come first most of the time, and nothing gets done.
